Meditation Classes

Meditation is essentially an altering of the brain wave frequency, producing a state which differs from our normal waking hours. It is an exercise in which awareness and attention are practiced through a variety of techniques.

Many people are interested in meditation yet are put off from the idea, because they don’t know how to do it, where to do it or think they don’t have time to do it. I know that initially I thought all of those things and felt somewhat intimidated, thinking that I needed to do certain poses or think certain things or not think at all. The truth is, you don’t need any fancy ‘active-wear’, you don’t need a certain pose, you don’t necessarily need to think certain things or even nothing at all, you don’t need oodles of time and you don’t even necessarily need a certain space in which to do it (depending on the sort of meditation you choose to do).

So what is meditation exactly?

Meditation is essentially an altering of the brain wave frequency, producing a state which differs from our normal waking hours. It is an exercise in which awareness and attention are practiced through a variety of techniques.

What meditation is not? Meditation is not a religion, a doctrine nor an ‘alternative’ lifestyle. It is also different to mindfulness, which is the ability to be present and fully engaged in the here and now.

I offer both group meditation classes and one on one guidance.
