EFT, NLP and Gestalt

These are some of the modalities I use when appropriate and mutually agreed upon, in counselling and sometimes in coaching sessions.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. You may have heard of it as ‘tapping’. It is a very simple yet powerful technique which combines the knowledge of the ancient Chinese acupuncture system with modern day psychotherapy.

It releases blocked emotion and limiting beliefs by reaching the subconscious.

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming is another modality I use in both counselling and coaching when called for. It draws upon many other therapies and provides a framework from which to operate from. NLP is concerned with systemisation and integration and is a model from which to understand yourself, others and the world around you.

Psych-K is a relatively new modality which combines neuro science and the quantum field. It has been described as a spiritual process with psychological benefits, yet at its core is a simple and direct way to communicate with the subconscious. It’s purpose is to accelerate individual and consequently global evolution.

Gestalt therapy is a very effective technique to connect the mind and body and is particularly helpful for people who ‘live in their heads’. I sometimes use this technique in counselling sessions. It emphasizes personal responsibility and your personal contribution towards any given situation or scenario. It focuses upon your own experience in the present moment, your own adaptations and modifications you have made as coping mechanisms, the environmental and social contexts of your life and finally the therapist–client relationship. It is deep, complex and involved but can yield extremely transformative results.
